Introducing Mr. & Mrs. McFerron

Weddings. The season has about one month left in it, and I was happy to share in one this past weekend as a guest rather than the planner. Two great friends, Brian & Nancy, became hubby and wife at Meridian Hills Country Club. A great venue, perfect place to celebrate the beginning of this chapter together.

Brian and Nancy - they are both good people. The kind of people that make you smile for being genuine and funny at the same time. She was stunning, he was handsome, and the room smelled of roses and hydrangeas. Beautiful florals - I can't explain how they were utterly amazing and impacted the whole event. I couldn't be happier to take one home at the end of the night, thanks to the bride encouraging local residents to take them!

A Wedding in Elmhurst

One of my best friends (who was also one of my bridesmaids) married her the love of her life at the beautiful and historical Wilder Mansion in Elmhurst, Illinois. It couldn't have been a better day - beautiful, bright, sunny and full of love.

The mansion was gorgeous, full of nooks that had beautiful character. One room was perfect for the personalized ceremony as the couple became Mr. & Mrs., another perfect for the couple's first dance and delicious cake cutting, another for appetizers and mimosa's. A room for every perfect touch of the perfect day. And when you add a beautiful bride, a glowing groom, friends and family, the mansion becomes complete.

I couldn't be more happy for Desiree and Jordan - they both were glowing with affection for one another. It was one of those weddings where you know the couple is perfect together. You know they'll grow old together, loving each other more and more as the years go by.

Congratulations Desiree & Jordan. Honored to be part of your day and celebrate your love!

Introducing Mr. & Mrs. Vanden Avond

My dear friend, Mykael, married the love of his life, Stephanie, this past weekend in Green Bay. You may remember him from another wedding recap. Before I show you all of the fun, a few things to note about Mr. Mykael.

The true spelling of his name is Michael. A long time ago, he decided Myk was a better fit, and so that is how he is referenced by not only himself, but everyone else. I have always called him Michael, and I refuse to change that. Thus, I've amended Michael to Mykael to satisfy his i vs. y thing he has going on.
We have known each other since prior to birth. Our parents are besties (they met because our father's are in the same industry), thus we grew up together and have always been close due to our age (which is exactly 9 months apart, he is July 17, whereas I am April 17). We have spent countless summers camping with our families growing up - we even used to waterski together. Matching hoodies were also part of history.
He's a fire fighter. All buff and like, he saves lives. Awesome guy.
I love him to pieces like a brother. We used to tell people we were half siblings and everyone believed us. It did take a while for people to understand that we weren't once high school graduation occurred and everything (we went to different high schools). Not to mention the different parent thing.

When he met Stephanie and I finally had the chance to meet her, I knew she was perfect for him. She's adorable, friendly and love him with all of her heart. I was honored to read and be part of their special day as they became Mr. & Mrs. A small photo recap:

Desiree's Bridal Shower

This past week and part of the weekend, I was in Chicago for work. But it worked out well, because one of my best friend's was having her bridal shower in Elmhurst on Saturday. Timing couldn't have been better! Here are a few photos from the event.

A Wedding in Cambridge

I had a great time with friends this past weekend in Boston. I had flown in to spend sometime with my friend DC, who cooked me a great meal of salmon, garlic potatoes and sauteed kale & mushrooms on Friday evening. We enjoyed a bottle of wine and some cupcakes from Baby Cakes, located in Quincy. I loved spending the evening with her (thanks Denise!), but the initial weekend visit was planned because of the wedding of my two dear friends, Maggie & Paul!

After getting a mani with Denise, I made my way to Michelle & Bret's apartment. Michelle was a bridesmaid, so I hung out with Bret (they are engaged to be married in 2012, which I am also honored to be the wedding coordinator for!) until we made our way to Hotel Marlowe for the wedding. I met Paul when I was pledging Sigma Kappa Sorority in 2000. We were instant friends, so when Maggie (who I met when she pledged Sigma Kappa a few years later to became a sister of mine) and Paul ended up dating, I couldn't have been happier for the two of them. Warm fuzzies when two friends tie the knot - the ceremony and reception were perfectly them in all characteristics. Here are some photos:

It was great to see friends from the Delta Upsilon chapter as well as my dear Sigma Kappa friends. Thanks Michelle & Bret for allowing me to crash your couch - much appreciated, can't wait to do it again!

Wedding & 1st Birthday: Weekend Recap in Wisconsin

Hubs and I made our way to the home state of Wisconsin this past weekend for two celebrations: a wedding and birthday party. I just adore celebrations, especially weddings and birthdays. Weddings are the celebration of a new life for two people, while birthdays celebrate an individual and their life. What is there not to love?

First, Mr. & Mrs. C.Andrews were married at Heritage Hill - a historical museum that showcases the early years of Green Bay. It reminds me of grade school and churning butter during field trips. But the church was transformed for their ceremony, and both the building and couple were glowing.

The reception was at Rock Garden, which is now 1951 Conference Center or something similar as it is linked to a Comfort Suites I believe. We have had a few wedding receptions already this year, but I will always remember my brother's as the first I went to at this establishment. The service was great, food was good, but honestly, I have to mention their wedding cake. Confession - I LOVE wedding cake (who doesn't?) Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo as I probably consumed it way too quickly. The server informed me that it was a raspberry chocolate and vanilla swirl. However, when it was set in front of me, it looked more like a layered cake. And to my surprise, it was cheesecake! The bottom layer was a chocolate cheesecake, then a layer of of raspberry filling, topped with white cake. It was oh so good - one of the best I've had yet!

The other event - our nephew's birthday party! We are honored to be his godparents - any time we get to spend with this cute little mister is well worth any driving distance. Happy first birthday to my darling nephew, Ahren! The party was adorable, and I went 'bananas' over the monkey theme!

The guests enjoyed a chocolate and white layered cake, while Mr. Ahren got to have his very own banana cake (sans eggs.) It was so funny, because he was protesting at first, but he got the hang of it eventually. Too cute (& did I mention hilarious!)

Hubs and I started a college fund for him, but to make it fun right now, we also gave him an adorable stuffed Mickey. I mean, who doesn't need a little Disney in their life?

He's going to love The Mouse whether he knows it or not...

Short and quick weekend due to the drive, but worth it to see family and friends!

Introducing Mr. & Mrs. R.Cornell!

As I continue to catch up, I have to recap the latest wedding (number 6!) of the year! My dear friends, the new Mr. & Mrs. RC got married! Hubs and I made our trek to GBC for the weekend to celebrate.

Quick explanation of my two dear friends: RC and I have been friends since freshman year high school. We were introduced through my guy bestie, MV, back in the day. RC is one of the most sincere and loyal guys you will ever meet. He is also extremely funny - there is this gorilla costume...well, that's a different story. He met JN (now, JC!) through MV too! How funny right? And the two have been great together ever since they accidentally fell in love - and I just adore them both.

It was a great night of fried chicken (love Wisconsin weddings - had fried chicken at the last wedding we went to,) dancing, catching up with friends and lots of laughter. Some photos to recap the evening.

Introducing Mr. & Mrs. Jason R!

My dearest cousin, who I refer to as Johan, got married this past weekend! Johan is like a brother to me. We grew up living across the street from one another (him and his two sisters, who I also dearly love!) and shared many wonderful memories growing up together. I heart him!

Johan is a great time. If you don't know him, he is one of those people that you have to have in your life. He is always making me laugh with his comments and jokes, plus he is just a bunch of love. Not to mention he does give fabulous hugs. A bad bone doesn't exist in that body of his - he is full of love to all his friends and family. I couldn't be happier that he found someone to share that love with because there is a lot that he has to give! Did I mention the hugs?

Family weddings in the good old GBC (Green Bay for those who don't know my reference) allow me to see my entire family in celebration. It is rare that my cousins, aunts and uncles can all get together and weddings provide the perfect opportunity. We wined and dined at the Rock Garden Supper Club (yes, another SUPPER CLUB!) for the evening festivities. Family style dinner consisting of beef tips, chicken, and lots of fixings were provided.

And I love weddings. I do (haha, no pun intended,) I just can't get enough of them.
